Durable Medical Equipment (DME)

You may need a brace, sling, boot and/or crutches following surgery. Details regarding brace wear (duration and weight bearing) will be based on your surgery details.

COSMO will contact your insurance to find out your DME benefits and communicate with you the cost.

  • If you are receiving your brace from our office, we will provide it on the date of surgery.

If you have Medicare insurance, an order for the brace will be sent to an outside company, MedCom

  • If you do not hear from MedCom the week leading up to your surgery, please contact our office so we can ensure that you get your brace.
  • Please make sure that you bring your brace with you to surgery so that it can be placed on your limb at the end of your procedure.

If you have crutches you can bring them with you, otherwise there are crutches available through COSMO.

Please let us know during your pre-operative appointment if you will be needing crutches.
